Suspect Who Shot Dead 33yo M’sian Man in Front of Pregnant Wife in Sungai Golok Surrenders to Police

A 33-year-old Malaysian man was shot dead in front of his pregnant wife at a house in the border town of Sungai Golok, Thailand, on Saturday (1 November).

As previously reported, initial investigations suggest the killing was likely linked to unpaid debts.

The suspect turned himself in at Sungai Golok police station

According to Berita Harian, Mohd Fuad Fahmie, from Kampung Kepas Apam, Pasir Mas, was pronounced dead at around 9 PM while receiving treatment at Sungai Golok Hospital, with his family claiming that he was shot 18 times.

In a recent update, one of the suspects involved in the fatal shooting was revealed to be a former Kelantan FA player, who has since been arrested, as reported by Sinar Harian.

It’s understood that the suspect is a former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Kelantan FA during the 2019 season. Before that, he also played in the Thai League with Yala United FC and PT Prachuap FC.

The suspect was arrested after surrendering at the Sungai Golok Police Station

The suspect was reportedly arrested on Sunday night (2 November) after turning himself in at the Sungai Golok Police Station, bringing along the pistol used in the shooting.

A security force spokesperson said checks showed that the suspect, who’s in his 30s, holds dual citizenship, Thai and Malaysian. However, it is unknown how the suspect managed to do so, as Malaysia doesn’t allow a citizen to hold two nationality.
