A brand new AI-powered tool called AI-DADA lets Swatch fans “design” their very own watch.

If you’ve ever wanted a unique watch that’s decked out with your own personal flair or design but you don’t necessarily have the artistic capabilities to do it, Swatch may have the solution. The Swiss watch company recently rolled out AI-DADA, an AI tool where users can input prompts that can be turned into a unique design. And no, these designs don’t just stay as designs. You can immediately order them and have them shipped to your doorstep.

Here’s what you need to know about the Swatch AI-DADA.

The AI-DADA tool makes your unique design come to life—with some caveats. Firstly, you’re not really designing. Like any generative AI, you’re writing a prompt that the AI will then interpret. That means the quality of your designs will depend on how articulate you are in your prompt. Prompts are also limited to 300 characters, which means you need to be a little concise. On top of that, you only get to generate three designs each day.

Aside from the design that the AI comes up with, there are only a few other customisation options. The watch only comes in the 41mm New Gent case, but you do have a few choices of different mechanisms. The caseback is also engraved with a “1/1” to indicate that your watch is truly and literally one of a kind, which it is. Even if you put in the same exact prompt, the design will come out differently.

We tried it out to see how well the AI interprets our prompt. The “DADA” in its name stands for Dadaism, so it wasn’t a surprise that the designs were generated in that vein. When prompted for a Sex and the City-inspired watch in pink and gold, the AI was able to generate a pretty and minimalist design. The same thing happened with a DND fantasy-inspired design. However, being limited to only three generations per day meant that you had to settle with the AI’s first design instead of being able to regenerate the same prompt multiple times to see other variations of the design.

No word yet on whether Swatch will open up the customisation to include more models. With the options available now, it also seems that the price is set at RM809 excluding shipping costs.
