Swatch just teased a new project set for May 16, and the wording, along with typeface, is driving the watch world crazy as it looks like a collaboration with Audemars Piguet.

Close to four years after the infamous MoonSwatch’s release, where malls were shut down due to mobs swarming to buy the watch, this new project hints at some involvement with Audemars Piguet and the Royal Oak (Offshore?). The biggest tell is the word “Royal,” which looks exactly like the original logo, along with the overlapping P and O in “Pop” – all a nod towards the old solid casebacks on earlier Royal Oak Offshores.

People are calling this the SwatchOak, but we think BioOak has a better ring to it. We’re thinking, given the word “Pop,” colours are going to reference Pop Art, maybe even something to do with Lichtenstein, and to make use of Swatch’s tech, we’ll see the iconic Royal Oak case made from Swatch’s Bioceramic material, and probably the chrono movement found in the MoonSwatch. I will be slightly upset if the Tapisserie pattern is not on the dial, as that would be a huge detail that would keep this from looking like a CasiOak.
