- Organisers of the Sydney Marathon have acknowledged an error in this year’s finisher's medal, which mistakenly featured Munich's Allianz Arena instead of Sydney's Allianz Stadium.
- Marathon bosses laughed off the mistake, saying that they were "not going to run from it" and adding that the blunder makes the medal "a little more unique".
- Munich's Allianz Arena responded in good humour on social media, joking that they "didn't have that on our bingo card".
- Artist Ambrose Killian, who created the front design of the medal, said he had no involvement in the design or production of the reverse side.
- A record field of more than 40,000 runners is expected to receive the medal after completing the 42.2km race next week.
