KUALA LUMPUR – National professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani believe their Malaysia Masters 2026 title hopes unravelled after their opponents managed to take control early and effectively read their game throughout the final today.

The Malaysian duo fell short in their bid for a first title of the season after going down 21-16, 21-17 to Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard in just 42 minutes.

Reflecting on the defeat, Nur Izzuddin admitted the Danish pair executed their strategy brilliantly and never allowed the Malaysians to settle into their rhythm.

"Uh, I think the opponents played very well today. They really put pressure on us from the start of the game until the end," he told reporters after the match.

Beyond the relentless pressure, Nur Izzuddin felt the Danes had also done their homework, leaving Sze Fei-Izzuddin struggling to adapt as the match unfolded.

"Nothing else, I feel the opponents had definitely read our game, so we were slow to make changes," he said.

The defeat highlighted areas the pair feel require immediate attention, with Sze Fei pointing to technical aspects that need refining before they head into their next assignment.

"I think in terms of service and receiving, I feel that is the part we need to do better in," he said.

With little turnaround time before the Singapore Open, Nur Izzuddin said recovery has now become the priority, particularly after an intense run in Kuala Lumpur.

"The most important thing for us right now is recovery, because we don't have much time. So, the focus is on mental and physical (recovery)," he said.

Despite ending the week without silverware, the world-class duo now shifts focus towards ensuring they return refreshed and better prepared for the next challenge on the calendar. - May 24, 2026
