Hong Kong’s two-time Asian Tour champion returns to his home course as the USD2 million tournament prepares to welcome the world’s top golfers.
HONG KONG: Hong Kong’s leading golfer Taichi Kho has confirmed his participation in the Link Hong Kong Open 2026 from Oct 22 to 25, as the city’s home open prepares to celebrate its 65th staging at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling.
The two-time Asian Tour champion is enjoying the best season of his career so far, currently sitting second in the Asian Tour Order of Merit. Kho defeated two-time Major champion Bubba Watson at the International Series Morocco in June, a week after finishing runner-up at the Japan Golf Tour Championship following a playoff defeat.
Kho made history in 2023 when he became the first Hong Kong player to win an Asian Tour event after claiming the World City Championship at the Hong Kong Golf Club. He also won in Switzerland the following year and finished tied sixth at the Link Hong Kong Open in 2024.
The 25-year-old said he was delighted to return to his home course, where he has enjoyed some of his biggest achievements. Kho, who is also a Hong Kong Golf Club ambassador, hopes to reproduce his memorable 2023 victory in front of the home fans when the tournament returns in October.
The Link Hong Kong Open is one of only two professional golf tournaments to have been staged at the same venue for six decades or more, alongside the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. The USD2 million event has played a key role in promoting Hong Kong as a major international sporting and tourism destination.
Tournament organisers have also announced that the event will remain accessible to the community under its “Open For All” initiative. Admission will be free on Thursday and Friday, while spectators aged 18 and under will enjoy free entry throughout all four competition days. Weekend tickets cost HKD200 per day or HKD300 for a weekend pass.
The 65th Link Hong Kong Open is expected to attract a strong international field as the Asian Tour season enters its closing stages. The tournament will take place at the Hong Kong Golf Club from Oct 22 to 25 and is recognised as an “M” Mark event by Hong Kong’s Major Sports Events Committee.
