THE death of a 31-year-old Taiwanese influencer at a hotel in Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur, on 22 October has been officially reclassified as a murder, the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, announced on Tuesday.

"Further investigations into the case are ongoing," he said in a brief statement.

The influencer was found lying in the hotel bathroom after entering Malaysia two days earlier on 20 October via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 1).

Her body was subsequently taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for a post-mortem examination.

It has been reported that Malaysian rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, 42, was present in the room at the time of the incident.

Namewee was later detained by police on suspicion of drug possession and use. - November 4, 2025
