SHAH ALAM – Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd continues to build on its growth momentum, recording higher takaful revenue and profit before zakat and tax (PBZT) for the cumulative second quarter ended June 30, 2026.

The Group posted takaful revenue of RM2 billion for the period, up seven per cent from RM1.8 billion in the corresponding period last year, while PBZT rose six per cent to RM305.6 million from RM287 million previously.

Group chief executive officer Nor Azman Zainal said the performance reflected the strength of the Group’s family and general takaful businesses, supported by continued contractual service margin (CSM) release and higher net investment income.

“Our Q2 FY2026 performance demonstrates the resilience of our business and the effectiveness of our strategy.

“We are encouraged that both our family takaful and general takaful businesses continued to deliver positive growth, contributing to stronger revenue and earnings for the Group,” he said.

He said the Group remained focused on maintaining the quality and sustainability of its earnings rather than pursuing growth purely through higher numbers.

“Our diversified portfolio, disciplined underwriting and investment approach, together with continued CSM release, provide a strong foundation for us to navigate changing market conditions while pursuing sustainable growth,” he added.

The family takaful business recorded a 5.7 per cent increase in takaful revenue to RM1.16 billion from RM1.09 billion, supported by higher contribution release and increased takaful coverage.

Meanwhile, general takaful revenue rose 16.1 per cent to RM806.7 million from RM694.6 million, driven mainly by stronger contributions from the motor segment.

The Group said the performance across both segments reflected its diversified portfolio and ability to respond to varying customer protection needs.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Takaful Malaysia expects opportunities to remain amid resilient economic conditions, a persistent protection gap and growing awareness of the need for financial protection among individuals, businesses and institutions.

The Group said it would continue expanding its bancatakaful partnerships, particularly in the retail segment, through advisory and regular contribution products aimed at reaching underserved and underpenetrated market segments.

It also plans to leverage its digital platform, Kaotim, to strengthen customer engagement and provide a more convenient and affordable channel for accessing takaful products.

With Malaysia’s takaful penetration rate remaining relatively low, the Group said there was further potential to tap demand for affordable protection, financial planning and medical coverage.

Takaful Malaysia also plans to reduce its reliance on motor takaful by pursuing opportunities in commercial and retail general takaful, particularly asset protection, where it sees significant untapped potential.

Nor Azman stressed that the Group’s next phase of growth would focus on strengthening its business while building deeper relationships with customers.

“The next phase of our growth will be about doing more than simply expanding our business. It will be about strengthening the quality of our growth, deepening our customer relationships and creating greater value across the takaful ecosystem,” he said.

He said Takaful Malaysia would continue investing in its people, technology, products and distribution capabilities, while strengthening strategic partnerships.

“Digitalisation will remain an important enabler in making takaful more accessible, relevant and convenient for our customers,” he added.

Nor Azman highlighted that the Group remained confident in its ability to pursue new opportunities while maintaining discipline in underwriting, capital allocation and risk management.

“With a diversified business model, strong fundamentals and a clear strategic direction, we are well-positioned to capture emerging opportunities while remaining disciplined in managing risks,” he said.
