Gurbhej Singh

Gurbhej Singh (26), son of Mukhtar Singh of Mehindipur village in Tarn Taran district, died in Southall, England, on Thursday.

Mukhtar Singh, father of the deceased, said that his son had moved to England about four years ago. He said that friends living with Gurbhej informed the family that he had sustained injuries three days ago and was admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. Mukhtar Singh alleged that the same friends who informed the family had attacked his son with sharp-edged weapons.

According to him, the accused later tried to save Gurbhej Singh and ensured that he received medical treatment, but his injuries were too severe and he could not survive.

Mukhtar Singh has appealed to the Union Government to ensure justice in the case and facilitate the early repatriation of his son’s body. He said Gurbhej was the youngest of his four children, while the other three are daughters. Mukhtar Singh serves as the Nambardar of Mehindipur village.

Reports suggest that the England police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.
