
TAWAU: More than 2,300 scouts from Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia gathered in Tawau for the Nusantara International Jamboree 2025, which began Friday.
Sabah Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan officiated the event and pledged RM5,000 in support. He praised scouting as a key platform for youth leadership and cultural understanding.
"Once a scout, always a scout," he said, commending organisers for hosting the jamboree for the third time.

The jamboree, one of Southeast Asia’s leading scouting events, runs for five days.
Also present were Sabah Scout Chief Commissioner Jamaludin Jamal Jinal, Sabah Scout Council President Sari Arshad, Vice President Datuk Dr Awang Zaini Suntim, and Tawau Indonesian Consulate Chief Haris Heru Utomo.
