SEMPORNA: The tour bus drive involved in accident with a trailer and a box lorry at March 11 at Km21 along Jalan Semporna-Tawau, succummbed to injuries at the Tawau Hospital.

District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said, the local bus driver passed away at 3.45pm on Thursday.

Mohd Farhan said, three Singaporeans passengers who received treatment at the Tawau Hospital have been discharged on March 14. Another passenger, also from Singapore, was discharged on March.

“The 29-year-old trailer driver was detained to assist in investigation into the incident which have been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Two tourists killed and five others injured in the accident.

The accident occurred when the trailer lost control and entered entering the opposite lane and collided with the bus.

The bus was carrying six passengers from Singapore and Vietnam aged between 11 and 71.

The tour bus driver and four other passengers, all Singaporeans sustained severe injuries and were sent to the Tawau Hospital for further treatment.
