
TAWAU: Two men were killed, Monday, when their Perodua Viva collided with a 10-tonne lorry at Mile 22, Jalan Apas, near here.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 19-year-old Viva driver and his 20-year-old passenger were on the way to Tawau from Semporna.
The passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the driver was pronounced dead while being treated at the hospital. The 47-year-old lorry driver, who was from Tawau to Semporna, sustained minor injuries.
Police were notified about the accident around 6.35am.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said a team was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 5.57am.
The team arrived at the scene some 39km away at 6.26am and began rescuing the victims trapped in the Viva.
The operation ended at 6.53am.
