TAWAU: Warisan Tawau Wira (Youth) head Ismail Sabran together with about 1,500 members, including leaders from 30 branches of Apas and Balung state seats, announced quitting the party on Sunday.
Ismail who is also Central Warisan Wira Deputy Head said they left willingly without coercion or being influenced by any quarters. He said they would send their membership application to Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) soon as possible to support the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said they decided after a discussion with the members who agreed to have a transparent leadership that safeguards the rights of the people of Sabah.
“We are not just ‘leaving the party’ but we want to work to ensure that our demands in MA63 can be met by the Unity Government under the coalition of Sabah’s local parties.
“The main factor that pushed them to leave Warisan was because the voice of the grassroots were not heard when they wanted the party to also join the ruling government party (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) in an effort to form the Borneo Bloc with Sarawak,” he said in a press conference, Sunday.
Ismail said they also think it is time to stop the political conflict in Sabah and that all local leaders should unite for the better development of the state.
Looking at the support and coalition of local parties in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), he is confident that this is the starting point for the unity of the leaders and people of Sabah. Ismail said the wing of Warisan Tawau Wira (Youth) is now paralysed.
