KUALA LUMPUR: Taylor’s Residence has secured three prestigious accolades at the Asia-Pacific Student Accommodation Association (APSAA) Awards 2026 in Adelaide, Australia, in recognition of its efforts to enhance student wellbeing, community engagement and sustainable living.
The APSAA Awards are regarded as among the most respected honours in the student accommodation sector across the Asia-Pacific region, recognising institutions and operators that demonstrate excellence and innovation in student living.
Competing against leading universities, residential colleges and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) providers from across the region, Taylor’s Residence received awards in three categories:
• Excellence in Student Experience (University Category)
• Excellence in Facility Development or Management (University Category)
• Excellence in Sustainable Development Goals
The latest achievement builds on a series of recognitions received by Taylor’s Residence in recent years, including the APSAA Excellence in Student Experience award in 2025 and honours at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia for Outstanding Support for Students and Outstanding Contribution to Regional Development.

Taylor’s Residence said the awards reflect its long-standing commitment to creating student accommodation that supports not only academic achievement but also personal growth, wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
The recognition comes as Malaysia continues to strengthen its position as a regional education hub, with increasing emphasis on providing high-quality student accommodation that meets international expectations for safety, wellbeing and community engagement.
Taylor’s Residence President Sheena Angelina said the awards highlighted the growing importance of professionally managed PBSA facilities in supporting the development of Malaysia’s higher education sector.
“These recognitions reinforce the growing potential of the PBSA sector in Malaysia and we remain committed to continuously elevating student living standards within the region,” she said.
Among the initiatives recognised by the judges was the residence’s R!SE Residential Living Programme, which focuses on four key pillars of student wellbeing: physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.
The awards also acknowledged ongoing investments in resident-centred facilities and communal spaces designed to enhance the overall student experience.
Another initiative highlighted was REGrow, a resident-led sustainability programme aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The project encourages students to participate in food waste management through black soldier fly larvae bioconversion while promoting environmentally responsible practices within the residential community.
Senior Vice-President of student accommodation Elaine Yap said the recognition was a testament to the organisation’s commitment to fostering meaningful living environments for students.
“If we are not building for student wellbeing, then we are not truly delivering a student living experience.
“Today’s students need far more than just accommodation. They need environments that support wellbeing, safety, community connection, personal growth and academic success,” she said.
Student resident Kelly Lana Lu said her experience at Taylor’s Residence had extended beyond having a place to stay.
“Living at Taylor’s Residence has given me more than just accommodation. I have met people from different backgrounds, formed meaningful friendships and become more involved in the residence community throughout my university journey,” she said.
She added that serving on the Student Resident Council had provided valuable opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.
Taylor’s Residence said it will continue investing in programmes and initiatives that support student development, sustainability and community building as demand for high-quality student accommodation continues to grow across the region.
