After nearly a year of speculation since their August 2025 engagement, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebrations are set to unfold this week at Madison Square Garden. An official told the Associated Press that the wedding will be held Friday, preceded by a smaller rehearsal dinner Thursday night. Sources told CNN the rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday evening with around 100 guests, while Friday’s larger celebration is expected to run into the early hours of Saturday morning, with roughly 1,000 guests attending.
The rumours gained momentum after New York City Hall confirmed a permit application was filed to close streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2 to July 4. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has repeatedly teased the event without confirming it outright, recently joking about “July 4th, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding" all happening at once, while sidestepping a direct question about the wedding during a press briefing on an incoming heat wave, quipping that anyone getting married at MSG should stay inside and stay cool.
Security is reportedly tight. A guest told NBC News that invitees received NDAs along with electronic invitations, and that multiple artist performances are expected on the night. New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the department is tracking the Friday event and will have a security detail in place, without offering further specifics.
Guest speculation includes Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates, with Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany likely attendees, alongside Swift’s close circle, including Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters, Emma Stone and Gigi Hadid.
Despite the mounting evidence, trucks unloading equipment, a briefly spotted red carpet, and confirmed permits, neither Swift nor Kelce has issued any public confirmation. Some close to the couple cautions it could still be a decoy for a smaller, more private ceremony elsewhere. For now, New York waits.
