Taylor Swift’s appearance at Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals sparked fresh debate online after a comment from the Knicks radio broadcast went viral.

Swift was courtside for Knicks vs Spurs Game 4 on Wednesday night, joining a star-studded crowd as New York looked to take control of the series.

The Knicks edged out San Antonio 107-106 to move 3-1 ahead, but Swift’s appearance became its own talking point on social media.

Taylor Swift Knicks appearance sparks commentator backlash

Barstool Sports shared the clip, saying the Knicks radio team did not know they were on air at the time.

As Swift was spotted courtside, one voice asked: “Is that Taylor Swift down there?”

Lead radio analyst Monica McNutt responded: “She’s not a Knicks fan, get out of here girl”

The comment appeared to reference Swift’s earlier playoff appearance in Cleveland with Travis Kelce, a Cavaliers fan, even though she was wearing Knicks gear at Madison Square Garden.

Taylor Swift fans defend her after Knicks radio remark

Some fans pushed back against the tone of the exchange, with one writing: “The female is rather insufferable . She so mad he’s not a hater😂”

Another argued the male voice sounded more excited than critical, saying: “It’s not the guy saying those thing. It’s that lady sitting beside him. He seems excited to see her and share that picture with his wife. It’s always other women hating on Taylor as much as possible.”

One fan pointed out other non-Knicks celebrities in attendance, writing: “F___ that b____ that said that. Trumps not a Knicks fan but he was there. Robbert kraft ain’t no Knicks fan he showed up. She likes sports. She’s allowed to show up and enjoy it like everyone else.”

Another added: “Always unfortunate when women are bitter about other women for no reason.”

Taylor Swift wore Stevie Knicks shirt for Game 4

Swift wore a blue “Stevie Knicks” shirt, a play on Stevie Nicks and the Knicks, and attended with Alana and Este Haim.

Earlier in the postseason, ESPN announcers had also drawn attention for avoiding mention of Swift’s name during a Knicks-Cavaliers broadcast.

Game 5 is set for Saturday, June 13, in San Antonio, where the Knicks have a chance to clinch the championship.
