KOTA KINABALU: A teacher told the Coroner’s Court she disagreed with claims that SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha failed to consider the feelings of Zara Qairina Mahathir’s mother after the teenager’s death.

Yuslina Badrum said she knew Zara's mother had been removed from the school’s official WhatsApp group but did not know who removed her or why, and admitted she did not follow up on whether the mother received a copy of Zara’s diaries.

She added that she could have contacted Mama Zara directly to share the scanned diary but did not do so, while maintaining that teachers must seek ministry advice before issuing any statements that could address online speculation.

Another teacher, Solehah Md Noh, testified that she and several colleagues visited Zara at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on July 17 and overheard family discussions about declining a post-mortem to expedite the burial.

Solehah also agreed that the incident involving Zara on July 15 amounted to verbal bullying by senior students, and the inquest continues on Monday.
