The Democratic Teachers Front (DTF), Punjab, has alleged that the Punjab Government was misusing teachers for non-academic duties under the name of a drug and socio-economic survey. The organisation claimed that the survey was being used to serve political interests rather than its stated purpose.

Addressing the media, DTF state joint secretary Mukesh Gujarati, district president Sukhdev Dansiwal, general secretary Inder Sukhdeep Singh Odhra and other office-bearers said that while the government has invited voluntary workers for the survey through advertisements, teachers are being forced by officials to perform the work. They said teacher unions across the state are strongly opposing the move.

The DTF leaders claimed that the survey uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and includes questions related to government schemes and public expectations from the government. According to them, this gives the impression that information was being collected to prepare a political agenda or future strategy for a particular party.

The organisation also accused the government of going back on its promise not to assign non-teaching duties to teachers.

DTF warned that if the government does not stop assigning compulsory survey duties to teachers, the organisation will be forced to launch an agitation.
