Phoebe Gill, Team GB’s 17-year-old Olympic debutant, detailed the “performance anxiety” she felt competing in the women’s 800m semi-finals in Paris.

The teenager was running in the first of three heats in the event and needed to finish in the top two of her race, or be one of the two fastest losers, to reach the final.

With a time of 1:58.47, Gill was 13th-fastest of the field, meaning her debut Olympic journey ended at the semi-final stage.

After the race, she spoke about the pressure of performing at the Games for the first time.

“I’m just so proud I was able to get through this, I really didn’t know if I was going to be able to,” Gill revealed.
