KOTA TINGGI - A teenage boy died after he drowned while swimming in a river in Kampung Baru Felda Sungai Mas, here, today.
Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Abd Rahim Abd Rani said the department received a distress call through the MERS999 hotline at 10.12am, today.
He said after receiving the call, a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT), an Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) vehicle as well as personnel were deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival at the location, the Operation Release Team (PKO) found the body of the 13-year-old boy who drowned while he was swimming.
“A passerby who saw the victim brought him to a safe location before the PKO arrived.
“The victim was confirmed dead by medical officers at the scene before the body was handed over to the police for further action. The operations ended at 12.04pm on Saturday,” he said.
Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora confirmed receiving the report on the incident at around 10.25am on Saturday.
“The case was investigated under Sudden Death Report case,” he said.
