
TUARAN: A 15-year-old boy who went missing while swimming with his family at Sabandar Beach on Sunday was found drowned later in the evening.
District Fire and Rescue chief Mohamad Nor Amit said members of the public assisting the search and rescue (SAR) discovered the victim’s body at 7.05pm.
He said the boy was found along the shoreline about one kilometre from where he was last seen earlier in the day.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry medical officers before being handed over to the police for further action.
According to Mohamad Nor, the SAR operation involved 14 personnel with six vehicles, a boat, and support from the Civil Defence Force, police and nearby villagers, and was called off at 7.50pm.
