A 15-YEAR-OLD local girl is receiving intensive care at Penang Hospital after suffering serious injuries from a fall at a condominium in Gelugor on Sunday.
Deputy Chief of Northeast District Police, Superintendent Lee Swee Sake, said the police were alerted to the incident by members of the public at approximately 1.15 pm.
Preliminary investigations suggest the teenager fell from her bedroom on the tenth floor and was found lying on the seventh floor of the building at around 1.05 pm.
“The victim sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to Penang Hospital for further treatment. She is currently in the intensive care unit,” Superintendent Lee said in a statement on Monday.
He added that the girl has not yet regained consciousness. “At this stage, she is still unconscious. We will record her statement once she is awake,” he said.
The police have so far found no evidence of criminal activity linked to the incident. Superintendent Lee urged the public to refrain from speculation while the investigation continues, emphasising that authorities are conducting a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the fall.
The case remains under active investigation as officers work to determine the exact cause of the teenager’s fall, with officials appealing for any witnesses to come forward. - January 26, 2026
