SEREMBAN: A 14-year-old boy was killed after falling into a 10-metre-deep sewer following a motorcycle crash in Tampin last night.

The teenager was pronounced dead at Tampin Hospital at 11.30 pm, about 90 minutes after the incident.

His 17-year-old brother, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained minor injuries.

Tampin district police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said the brothers were travelling from Tampin town towards a friend’s house in Kuala Ina.

“Upon reaching the location, the Yamaha Y100 motorcycle ridden by his brother is believed to have skidded at a bend before hitting a sewer under construction on the left shoulder of the road, causing the victim to fall into the hole,” he said.

Firefighters retrieved the teenager from the sewer before he was rushed to hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Amiruddien urged anyone with information to contact the Tampin district police headquarters traffic police station. – Bernama
