A 17-YEAR-old girl died after being crushed by a wooden beam at a temple in Tanjong Sepat, near Kuala Langat, yesterday.

Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said his department received a call about the incident at about 8.34 pm, before officers were rushed to the location.

“The victim suffered serious head injuries and is understood to have gone to the temple with her family.

“The police found that there was no criminal element in the incident, and the case was classified as sudden death (SDR),” he said.

According to reports in the Chinese media, the beam weighed about 1,000 kg.

The girl's mother said she heard a loud sound and saw that a beam had fallen on her daughter, who was lying in a pool of blood.

She said her daughter had no time to react.

The temple has offered its condolences and said it will cooperate fully with authorities. – April 8, 2026
