SANDAKAN: Telecommunications companies (telcos) have been instructed to enhance their services at all tourist locations in Sabah to achieve robust internet connectivity ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Government continually carries out monitoring and regulatory activities for communication services, including in tourist areas, major roadways, public health premises, public and private higher education institutions, military camps, main stadiums and major event locations across each state.

“In addition to benefiting the general public, these initiatives to improve the quality of cellular services will also generate economic spillover effects for businesses involved in tourism-related activities by enabling broader online promotion.

“Furthermore, these measures will help tourists enjoy a better holiday experience in Sabah without losing connection to the outside world,” he said after conducting a communication coverage quality testing session at the Sepilok tourist area, here, Saturday.
