TELEVISION host and lawyer Ma. Gabriela “Gaby” Concepcion was appointed executive director of the National Authority for Child Care (NACC), an attached agency of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Concepcion replaced Janella Ejercito Estrada, daughter of detained Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
“A lawyer, educator, television host, and public servant, Undersecretary Gaby brings with her a diverse background in law, governance, communications, and public service,” the NACC said in a Facebook post.
“As we continue advancing legal adoption and alternative child care, we are honored to have her join us in championing the welfare and best interests of every Filipino child,” it added.
Concepcion took her oath before DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Wednesday.
“As head of the Council, Executive Director Concepcion will lead the implementation of policies and programs aimed at protecting and promoting the rights, welfare, and overall development of Filipino children,” the DSWD said in a Facebook post Thursday.
Concepcion was a segment host for the GMA morning show “Unang Hirit,” which won the PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Morning Show Host in 2024.
