Ten injured after roller coaster suffers technical failure at Subang Jaya theme park

TEN people were injured after a roller coaster suffered a technical failure at a theme park in Subang Jaya on Saturday night, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident occurred at about 9 pm, when 22 passengers aged between 11 and 44 were riding the attraction.

He said police received a report concerning the incident at 11.45 am yesterday.

"Initial investigations found that 22 passengers, comprising locals and foreign tourists aged between 11 and 44, were on the ride.

"The incident resulted in 10 victims sustaining injuries.

"The injured victims were taken to medical facilities around the Subang Jaya district for treatment," he said in a statement today.

Wan Azlan said all 10 victims suffered only minor injuries, while no fatalities were reported.

He said police were continuing their investigation to establish the exact cause of the incident and urged the public not to speculate.

"Members of the public with any information related to the incident can contact the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-78627100. The identity of informants will be kept confidential," he said.

The incident came after several videos circulated on social media purportedly showing passengers injured after a roller coaster at a theme park was alleged to have derailed.

Police have yet to confirm the claims that the ride derailed, saying investigations are ongoing. - August 24, 2026
