Tengku Amir Shah and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini hold majestic Selangor wedding

THE royal nuptials of Selangor’s Raja Muda, Tengku Amir Shah, and his bride, Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz, were celebrated in a grand and traditional ceremony at Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah, on Wednesday evening.

The event, commencing at 7.40 pm, was graced by the presence of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who honoured the occasion with their royal attendance. The ceremony also saw the arrival of other members of the royal family.

At 7.45 pm, the royal couple made their entrance into Balairung Seri, accompanied by the Selangor Symphony Orchestra, setting an elegant tone for the evening.

The proceedings began with a ritual sprinkling of holy water (mrenjis) performed by the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri upon the couple, symbolising blessings and good fortune. This was followed by similar blessings from the Raja Muda’s mother, Puan Nurlisa Idris Abdullah, and the bride’s parents.

The ceremony was further sanctified with prayers led by Selangor’s Mufti, Datuk Anhar Opir, invoking blessings for the royal couple.

The couple departed the hall at 8.15 pm, followed by the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri, proceeding to the Royal Banquet Hall for the state banquet.

The occasion was attended by Selangor’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, state executive councillors, members of the royal family, senior government officials, and other distinguished guests.

Tengku Amir Shah and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini were formally wed in the Royal Wedding Ceremony at the Istana Alam Shah Royal Mosque on 2 October, where the union was solemnised with a single vow at 10.08 am, followed by an 11-gun salute from the 41 Battery Royal Artillery Regiment. - October 23, 2025
