KUALA LUMPUR - The Umno Selangor Liaison Committee did not list its Supreme Council (MKT) member's name, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, in Barisan Nasional's candidate line-up for the upcoming state election.
Barisan Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the names of the candidates were submitted by the respective state liaisons before being screened by the party leadership.
"So it is up to each state liaison committee to name candidates.
"We are only screening here; if suitable, we will discuss again and, by mutual agreement, choose the best candidate to represent the party," he said when met after the 15th state election BN Candidate Announcement Ceremony at the World Trade Center (WTC) on Friday.
He said this when asked about the Kota Raja Division Umno Chief who was not announced tonight.
Meanwhile, when asked if the announced list of candidates had been fully finalised, Mohamad, who is also Umno Deputy President, said it could change before the nomination day on July 29.
"Sometimes if you get a certificate (nomination), you can change it too. We don't know that," he said.
Previously, the name of the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry was rumoured to represent BN in the Selangor state election.
