Kota Kinabalu: Asyasa FC from Tenom emerged champions in the Malaysia Day Cup 2025 Invitational Football Championship held at the Kepayan Prison Football Field last weekend.

They defeated Cebagoo FC from Sepangar 1-0 in the final to clinch the title and their player Jais Ambaros was also named the tournament top scorer with six goals.

In joint third place were BK FC from Tuaran and PU FC from Putatan.

A total of 10 teams took part in the two-day tournament organised by Kg Muhibbah-Putatan Youth Club (Bema FC).

Apart from the finalists and two losing semi-finalists, the other teams were Bema FC A, Bema FC B, Kajaba FC (Kinabatangan), Likas United (Kota Kinabalu), Garas FC ( Kepayan) and TARF FT (Tanjung Aru).

Bema FC’s chairman Masri Said said the tournament was held in conjunction with the Independence month celebration as well as to strengthen friendships and encourage healthy lifestyle among the veteran players.

The closing ceremony was officiated by club patron and the President of the Sabah Bumiputra Chamber of Commerce Datuk Hasnol Ayub.

Meanwhile, organising chairman Roslan Wasli expressed his gratitude to Hasnol for sponsoring the tournament and also thanked the organising committee and all the teams for their support.
