KUALA LUMPUR - Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex here today to face charges related to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
The former Jerai Member of Parliament arrived at the court at 7:40 am, dressed in a white shirt and a black suit.
According to the court system, the case against Jamil Khir is scheduled for mention before Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad at 9am.
On Sept 10, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman reportedly said that the commission had recommended three charges against the former minister under Section 403 of the Penal Code for the offence of dishonest misappropriation of property.
Jamil Khir was released on bail on Sept 8 after undergoing a seven-day remand period that began on Sept 2.
Earlier, the former minister was reportedly detained at 4:30 pm on Sept 2 while present to give a statement at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist in the investigation regarding the revelations in the TH RCI report.
The TH RCI report was made public on July 29; it documented various management and operational weaknesses at TH between 2014 and 2020 and listed problematic investments requiring a forensic audit.
The report also noted the existence of suspicious transactions and the concealment of information.- BERNAMA
