Human Resource Development (HRD) is a critical component of an increasing interconnected world. In preparation to attend the Asia HRD Congress 2026 on 12-13 November, at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok, Thailand so I decided to reach out for my class & batchmates who're alumni of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) to get an updates about HRD in Thailand. They revealed that “Thailand is strengthening its focus on HRD as the Government & employers set to prepare their workforce for an increasing complex, fast-changing global environment. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said developing people must remain at the heart of our country's long-term growth strategy. He described HRD as the foundation of national development, adding that building a real highly skilled and adaptable workforce is becoming increasingly urgent as Thailand responds to an ageing society, rapid technological advancements, geopolitical uncertainty and climate change.”

They added, "These challenges, the Government said it is working to widen access to education for people of all ages while strengthening upskilling and reskilling opportunities. It is also placing greater emphasis on supporting mental wellbeing, with the aim of helping people remain resilient & better prepared to navigate future changes and seize new economic & business opportunities."

As a corporate HRD practitioner, I realized Thailand has a large and resilient HRD and training market that is ready for further investment. The uniqueness of its HRD lies in the blend of traditional family-priority cultural & social environment values, rapid demographic shifts, and a heavy push toward national economic models. Research on Thai HRD graduate requirements emphasized that success relies heavily on soft skills (such as systematic and analytical thinking, communication & teamwork) and positive attitudes toward development rather than purely technical knowledge. I also observed with widespread concerns among business leaders regarding workforce capabilities, modern Thai HRD is rapidly pivoting toward AI-driven training, and real-time burnout detection.
