A restaurant in Permatang Pauh, Penang, took to its Facebook page recently to express sadness for the actions taken against the controversial group Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).

This was because one GISBH-linked company, Ikhwan Bakery, was one of the restaurant’s food vendors for the restaurant, whereby it supplied doughnut cakes to the eatery.

Going viral online, the Facebook reel post has garnered over 9,200 likes, though a majority of the 4,400 comments as of the time of writing were negative as the restaurant seemed to be defending GISBH.

As for the video itself, it showed the variety of snacks sold at the restaurant while customers were handpicking them.

In the overlaid text of the video, the restaurant said that there won’t be any doughnut cakes from Ikhwan Bakery again, which they praised as being cheap and delicious.

The overlaid text further elaborated,

“The best vendor, easy to do business with. If the stocks aren’t finished, they never take them back but instead give them away.

“We’re open to other vendors. But don’t do business by supplying food whenever you please.”

Malaysians call out the eatery for seemingly defending the undefendable

As investigation by the authorities revealed more revelations about GISBH’s misconduct, Malaysians took to the comments section to criticise the restaurant for seemingly defending Ikhwan Bakery.

One commenter asserted that the argument that GISBH contributed to the Muslim Bumiputera is flawed as the company allegedly never paid taxes, never paid Zakat and used free child labour.

Another commenter echoed the same sentiment, saying that GISBH allegedly never paid their Zakat and didn’t pay their employees, most of whom were underaged.

He then called for people to stop using sentiment to defend the much-maligned company.
