Over the years, we’ve seen trends come and go, but for some reason, 2025 has been the year where they’ve all come rushing back, and in the best way possible. One footwear trend that we’ve been seeing is the ballet flat. Super popular in the early 2000s, these dainty shoes had a serious main character moment before slowly fading out by the mid-2000s, when chunkier styles like skate shoes and platforms took over.
However, thanks to balletcore, these flats have been making quite a comeback. Inspired by the poise and attire of a ballet dancer, this soft aesthetic has taken over social media as well as the hearts of many. And now, there’s a fresh twist on the classic that we’re so obsessed with.
A “frankenshoe,” which basically means hybrid footwear that blends elements from different styles into one distinct creation, please welcome the sneakerina.
