Rosie O’Donnell declares Trump ‘regime is over’ as celebrities react to midterm bloodbath

Rosie O’Donnell has declared that President Donald Trump’s “regime is over” as she rejoiced at the Democrats flipping the Senate and the House.

The former talk show host – who now resides in Ireland after leaving the U.S. due to her outspoken disdain for Trump – took a victory lap in a nine-minute TikTok video.

She told her followers: “It’s a beautiful morning in the world. The Trump regime is over. Thank you America. We gave a very loud and clear message to Trump and his sycophants, his criminal friends: we’ve had enough.”

“I’m so proud of our country. Let the investigations begin people. This is a glorious day. You don’t get to define us, you madman. I love you America,” she said.

She continued: “Really, and this is a glorious day. Now, I feel sorry for the people who have to clean up the White House after Mr. Ketchup Thrower gets all his rage out.”

“He released a statement saying that if he had been on the ballot, it would have been a landslide,” she added. “Listen, delusional, diaper Don, that's not the truth, buddy. And we just smatched in the face with it, didn't we?
I think we did. It was bigger than a blue wave. It was bigger than a tsunami.”

The Democrats took control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives as voters in conservative strongholds shunned the Republican Party, which lost Texas, Maine, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio and both Carolinas.

Voters also elected the country's first Black female governor, the first Native American female governor, the first Native female senator and the first openly gay male U.S. senator, in a historic night for U.S. politics.

Celebrities across the U.S. have been celebrating the blue wave. The Chicks waved fans printed with the words “F*** Trump” onstage at a Los Angeles concert Tuesday night.

“Well hello Los Angeles,” said Natalie Maines onstage at the Dolby Theater, as the band members fanned their faces, smiling.

“Welcome to our blunami night,” Maines told the roaring crowd. “So glad we can enjoy this night together. Texas is blue. The Senate is blue. The House is blue. This was gonna be a very different night if that wasn’t the case. Welcome to the 20th anniversary of Taking the Long Way.”

The Chicks, from Dallas, Texas, have often wielded sharply worded criticism at President Donald Trump, and performed at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 2024. In May, Maines condemned his presidency and said: “Democracy is disappearing right before our eyes.”

Hacks star Hannah Einbinder toasted Abdul El-Sayed’s historic Senate race victory in Michigan, and posted a clip of herself doing a Haley Stevens impression after the prominent Michigan Democrat endorsed El-Sayed’s Republican opponent at the eleventh hour earlier this week.

Einbinder teased the impression on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday night: “If our guys (gender neutral) win tonight, I will debut my perfect Haley Stevens impression.”

Hours later, Einbinder posted a clip of herself in a bar delivering on her pledge. “As promised,” she wrote in a caption to the video, which featured her saying: “We’re gonna give ’em a little bit of energy, a little bit of pow, a little bit of stick it to ’em, cos that’s the Michigan way.”

She then reposted a graphic with words: “Mazel tov, Abdul.”

Singer Mandy Moore posted a series of stories as the results came in overnight, saying, “Texas, this keeps getting better and better…”

She wrote: “Thank you America. Thank you, everyone who voted. Turns out starting endless wars, taking away healthcare, kidnapping people in the streets, and on and on and on isn’t what the country at large stands for.”

Happy Days actor Henry Winkler responded to a post on X from social media personality Joanne Carducci, asking him: “Checking in — how are you all feeling right now?!!!”

Winkler replied: “Dreams do come true.”

Actor John Leguizamo posted a celebratory video in his bathrobe, saying: “We did it. This is redemption time! We got the first Latino governor in California… wooo!”

“It’s incredible, what wins. But it’s time to fix this mess,” he said.

Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler said: “I am overjoyed. What a great, great night! Thank you, America! You’ve saved your beloved country!”

Reality star Kim Kardashian shared a photo of herself on Wednesday with the caption: “GOOD MORNING AMERICA.”

Actor Pedro Pascal shared the results in Texas, writing: “SOBBING” on his Instagram stories.

He reposted several other infographics, including a picture of Texas colored in blue with the white heart in the middle, and another post celebrating Deb Haaland as the first Native American woman to be elected governor in the U.S., following her result in New Mexico.

The Breakfast Club star Molly Ringwald had encouraged fans to vote earlier in the day, and then celebrated the result in California.

“What a night! Congratulations to [Governor Xavier Becerra]! I was so happy to have met him along with his lovely wife Dr. Carolina Reyes supporting Planned Parenthood #california #plannedparenthood #choice,” she wrote on Threads. She also shared an emoji of a blue wave to signify the Democrats' sweep.
