Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) has pledged to expedite all processes under its jurisdiction to facilitate the completion of the long-delayed The Crown development upon the court sanction of a white knight developer.
Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah said DBKK would provide its full cooperation to ensure work on the project resumes soon as possible and would fast-track any approvals or processes under the local authority’s jurisdiction.
“Both DBKK and the State Government remained committed to resolving abandoned projects in Kota Kinabalu, particularly those affecting purchasers who had continued servicing their loans despite not receiving their units,” he said.
Speaking during a meeting with purchasers at KK Sentral on Monday, Sabin expressed confidence that the project can commence soon with the cooperation of all parties.
Head of The Crown Purchasers Committee, Wong Tze Sheng, welcomed the Mayor’s commitment.
Wong said purchasers had sought DBKK’s direct assistance to ensure construction could resume without further delay.
He also thanked the Mayor and DBKK for maintaining close communication with purchasers and supporting efforts to revive the abandoned project.
Wong said many purchasers had continued paying loans for years while waiting for their units and expressed hope the project would finally move forward following DBKK’s assurance.
