One of the most iconic stadiums in the US is set to be renamed when the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts next week.
The US, of course, are one of three host countries alongside Canada and Mexico.
For the first time since 1994, the World Cup will return to the continent of North America, with the tournament running between 11 June and 19 July.
The first game played on US soil will be when the USMNT play Paraguay at Los Angeles Stadium on June 12.
Houston is another of the 11 US cities in part hosting the tournament, yet their iconic NRG Stadium will be renamed.
NRG Stadium renamed to Houston Stadium because of FIFA rules
The home of the Houston Texans will be renamed when the tournament starts.
While the stadium is set to become the Reliant Stadium to reflect its original name when it opened in 2002, it will go under a different name for the tournament.

However, purely for the World Cup, it will simply be renamed as the ‘Houston Stadium’.
That is because FIFA rules do not allow stadiums to use their sponsor titles.
Stadiums in New York, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas and Mexico City will also see their names changed because of those rules.

The stadium will play host to several group games across the tournament, as well as two fixtures when the World Cup moves to its knockout stages.
