MANILA, Philippines—The Manila Times on Wednesday bagged multiple awards under the broadsheet category during the 7th Gawad Pag-IBIG para sa Media at the Manila Hotel.

The Manila Times was recognized for its exceptional performance, clinching three major awards: the Kabalikat sa Pagbabalita Award, the Agap Balita Award, and the Bida sa Paglathala Award.

The Kabalikat sa Pagbabalita Award was given to The Manila Times for achieving the highest accommodation rate of 100 percent, with 30 Pag-IBIG Fund press releases featured on its front page.  The Agap Balita Award recognized the publication’s swift action in ensuring that 90 percent of Pag-IBIG Fund press releases were published the next day. Meanwhile, the Bida sa Paglathala Award honored The Manila Times for having the most press releases published on its main front page and business section.

“While we in the media do our work not for recognition, but to serve the public with timely and meaningful information—especially on matters that affect everyday Filipino lives—being honored through the Gawad Pag-IBIG para sa Media is a deeply meaningful recognition for any newsroom,” said Blanca Mercado, the publication's president and chief operating officer, during the award ceremony.
