Crossing a road can be a dangerous situation as sometimes vehicles are driven too quickly, especially in areas where excessive speed shouldn’t be used.

This is, unfortunately, the case after a school kid was knocked down by a motorcyclist as the boy attempted to use a zebra crossing to cross a road to his school.

The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page shared dashboard camera footage of the incident, which allegedly took place in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Koris, Johor.

In the video, the student can be seen standing across the road from his school at a zebra crossing as a security guard on the other side of the road stopped vehicles on the opposite lane to give the boy way, after which he signaled to the boy to cross the road.

Unfortunately, the boy then immediately runs onto the road without looking left and right, and a speeding motorcyclist knocks him down as the guard watched in horror.

People have since blamed all the parties involved, from the motorcyclist, to the security guard and the student.

“To those who don’t know road rules. The zebra crossing is to let drivers or riders know that they must stop and give way to pedestrians who are crossing it.”

We strongly urge everyone to be more careful on the road and have more consideration for school and hospital zones, as well as to remind children to always looks both ways before crossing the road.

We also genuinely hope that both parties involved in the accident are okay.
