For Valentine’s Day

Building on the success of last year’s A Valentine’s Serenade, this performance promises to weave a spellbinding journey through some of the world’s most iconic love stories. It will feature a rich selection of orchestral works under the direction of Resident Conductor Gerard Salonga. The concert will showcase a mix of romantic compositions that span from Russian opera to Hollywood soundtracks, offering a perfect blend of passion and emotion.

The MPO will bring to life timeless tales of love that will stir the hearts of all in attendance. A highlight of the evening will be Marianelli’s Pride and Prejudice Suite, taken from the 2005 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. The sweeping, romantic music captures the essence of rural England and the timeless romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.image is not available

In The Mood

Next, the MPO will perform Umebayashi’s Yumeji’s Theme, a melancholic waltz from the iconic 2000 film In the Mood for Love. This hypnotic composition is beautifully evocative, adding a layer of longing and heartbreak to the evening’s program. Rota’s Romeo and Juliet will transport the audience into a world of passionate love with its sophisticated 1968 score.

Additionally, the concert will also feature Waller-Bridge’s Emma Suite, a cheerful and upbeat piece from the 1996 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. Its lighthearted tunes mirror the wit and charm of the beloved characters, offering an uplifting mood.image is not available
