The UK areas right next door to pricey postcodes where you can save money on a home

  • A new study by Lloyds Bank indicates that properties in postcodes adjacent to more expensive areas are, on average, 28 per cent cheaper.
  • The analysis compared higher-value postcodes across the UK with their less costly immediate neighbours, revealing significant potential savings for homebuyers.
  • In some regions, the price difference is substantially wider; for instance, homes in Blyth (NE24) in the North East are 47 per cent cheaper than in neighbouring Whitley Bay (NE26).
  • London buyers could save approximately 30 per cent (£232,419) by opting for NW2 (Cricklewood, Dollis Hill) over the more expensive NW3 (Hampstead, Belsize Park).
  • Amanda Bryden, head of mortgages at Lloyds, advises that looking just beyond sought-after postcodes can provide more affordable options while retaining access to jobs, transport, and amenities, particularly benefiting first-time buyers.
