The View saw a major shakeup as host Whoopi Goldberg’s chair was left empty throughout a broadcast.

On Monday (23 February), the 70-year-old dialled into the talk show from home, as she was snowed in due to an ongoing severe storm which has seen more than 30 inches of snow dumped across parts of the Northeast.

“I'm coming to you remotely because of this crazy historic blizzard slamming the East Coast has snowed me in," she said, adding that the audience had also been told to stay home.

However, despite her absence, production decided to keep her empty chair on set. Viewers were left puzzled as to why this was the case, as on Mondays, when Joy Behar is out, the table is set with just four chairs around it.

The chair was later have revealed to be left in as a stylistic choice, Entertainment Weekly reports.
