We are all feeling rather sad this week when we should really be happy celebrating Malaysia Day on 16th September.

The long-serving Queen of England and of the Commonwealth passed away a few days earlier after being on the throne for 70 years.

While England was busy preparing for Queen Elizabeth's funeral Tun Samy Vellu passed away quietly at his home in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides being remembered as one of the strongest party leaders, Tun Samy was highly regarded for his witty remarks that instantly came to life on social media as soon as his death was announced.

That shows how fond Malaysians are of the great man. The whole country adores him and still chuckles at some of his oneliners.

The best remembered is when he as a Minister of Works was asked by reporters why build a bridge where there was no body of water below. He quipped "we shall build a river too soon enough!"

But what I love most is when he as Minister of Post told us how speedy Pos Laju would be. "Ini hari hantar semalam sudah sampai!". (Letters posted today, arrived yesterday).

I am sure he didn't mean quite that way. It should probably be "Ini hari hantar malam sudah sampai!" Or you send it in the morning it would arrive by nightfall.

I still smile at the picture of the late Tun Samy hanging on my wall and think of many other oneliners he left us with to ponder upon in our quiet moments. We'll miss him dearly. RIP Tun Samy.

However, on 16 September morning, while we chatted over coffee on Malaysia Day, someone drew our attention to social media that was abuzz with reports that Yana, Najib's daughter was quoted by the press as saying that her Mummy misses daddy really bad!

According to the Sun Daily Nooryana Najwa, daughter of Najib Razak wrote on her Instagram post that mummy misses having daddy by her side.

She wrote, "Daddy is not with us, not at home anymore. Mummy...really misses the laughter, cheerfulness, and having her husband by her side...."

Once I finished reading Yana's message, someone from the next table laughingly said, "If mummy misses daddy real bad perhaps it's time to join him!"

That was quite witty I thought but not as good as any online from Tun Samy.

Anyway, we'll be missing Queen E for her charm, and Tun Samy for his witty remarks but as for Najib only Yana's mummy seems to miss him real bad!
