Each charge under Section 381 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years and liability of a fine, on conviction.

The court heard from prosecuting officer Inspector Albert Basiri that Sharil’s act was seen via the CCTV for taking the goods from the warehouse without permission.

In another case, a 23-year-old food delivery man was tentatively charged with extortion.

Abdul Rauf Saari was accused of committing the offence against a 21-year-old woman at 5pm on Aug 4 at Kg Sugud, Penampang.

The charge under Section 384 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years, or with a fine or with whipping or any two of such punishments, on conviction.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused after the charge was read out to him.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik applied for the charge to be read without a plea being taken pending a report from a telecommunication company in relation to the telephone number in the case.

In applying for another mention date, Kelvan proposed bail at RM5,000.

Unrepresented, the accused applied for a lower bail by saying he is not a Sabahan.

The court set Oct 6 for mention and released the accused on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties pending the telecommunication report.
