Tun Dr. Mahathir stated that "there is no actual evidence" that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 crashed at sea or on land.

“Today marks nine years since the jet vanished without a trace, and the fate of the 227 passengers and 12 crew members remains a mystery,” said Tun Dr. Mahathir on his official Twitter.

We haven't uncovered any proof of what happened to the plane since then. It was possible that it crashed at sea. Despite his hope that the hunt will continue, Tun Dr. Mahathir said the victim's family members must accept the harsh reality.

“But not knowing what happened to them is incredibly upsetting because you don't know if they're alive or if they've been apprehended,” he added.

"We must be patient. We must accept that it occurred. We didn't want it to happen, but it did, and we must accept that this plane, along with its passengers and crew, might no longer be in existence.” said the former prime minister.

"But if we can't recover the plane in the next few years, we have to accept...the plane is gone and we've lost the family members who traveled with it. This is something we must accept, even if it is difficult," Tun Dr. Mahathir added.

"Most likely they are gone because when the plane is kidnapped by another party and transported to another place, the fate of the passengers must be the same as the fate of the plane," he added, in a conspiratorial tone. "Whatever happens to the plane happens to the passengers," he explained.

Two months after the loss of MH370, Mahathir stated that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States had withheld knowledge regarding the tragedy.

In 2018, the former prime minister advanced one of his conspiracy theories, claiming that MH370 was taken over remotely in an attempt to prevent the jet from being hijacked.
