SHAH ALAM – The son of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, Kasim Khan, has issued an alarming warning regarding his father’s continued detainment, alleging that political opponents and authorities actively wish to end his father's life.
"They want to kill him. It’s as simple as that. They tried to kill him.
"They’ll slowly suffocate him in a cell and mentally torture him, as a vindictive campaign to try and kill him and silence anything around him,” he claimed.
The threat has expanded into a sweeping campaign against the entire family, intended to destroy any support structure surrounding the former leader.
Speaking in an online interview recently, Kasim revealed that his family members are living in sheer terror as "masked men with guns" have ripped his aunts and cousins from their homes in the middle of the night without filing formal charges.
Highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the raids, he condemned the doers, stating that they have no humanity whatsoever.
“There is no honour amongst them. They’ll take men, women, children, no matter who they are," he alleged.
According to Kasim, this systemic suppression and the detention of his father's wife are driven entirely by state fear over public support.
He alleged that the authorities are petrified of his father's popularity and view any kind of protest as another threat to their hold on power.
For those relatives currently outside Pakistan, the situation remains deeply distressing as they watch their family targeted in a campaign designed to isolate Imran Khan completely.
Prior to his imprisonment, Imran served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan for nearly four years, holding office from August 2018 until April 2022, when he was removed following a parliamentary vote of no confidence.
The former international cricketer-turned-politician has been held in prison since August 2023, after being arrested on allegations related to the unlawful sale of state gifts.
Since his initial detention, he has faced dozens of legal charges spanning state corruption, treason, and the illegal disclosure of official state secrets, convictions and cases that his legal defence team and loyal supporters maintain are entirely politically motivated to bar him from returning to public office.
