
PAPAR: A newborn was left under the gaps of a house in Kampung Sapat, here, Tuesday afternoon, the third case of baby dumping within a week.
The baby was found on the ground naked in the cold by the 52-year-old house owner, after hearing incessant cries at about 4am.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the man was heading to the toilet at dawn when he heard a baby crying below his house and decided to inspect.
“He then found that a baby had been left on the ground and called out to his wife to bring a towel to cover the child,” he said.

Kamaruddin said examination results revealed that the child was born normal and less than 24 hours.
“The child is currently in a stable condition,” he said, adding investigation is ongoing to locate the suspect involved. The District Welfare Department has been informed.
“Further investigations are being carried out to trace the suspect involved and the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 by a parent or person having care of it.

On Saturday, an individual found the body of a newborn floating in waters near Kg Tg Aru Lama with its umbilical cord still attached. Two days later on Monday, a villager found an abandoned newborn boy on top of a chicken coop in Kg Jawa, Lahad Datu.
