An occasion that brings family and friends together over the long weekend, Easter calls for some good food and wine. While the Sunday roast and Easter egg gifting may steal your guests’ attention, a good quality wine is sure to go down well too.

For the perfect Easter aperitif, look no further than Tesco’s Finest English sparkling wine. Hand harvested from English vineyards in Kent from the award winning Balfour winery, it seriously impressed qualified wine consultant Libby Brodie. She nominated it as one of the best sparkling wines to buy in the supermarket, comparing it to champagne but without the hefty price tag.

Right now it’s available at Tesco for Easter, at around half the price of other popular champagne brands. Occasionally you can pick up six bottles for 25 per cent on a Clubcard offer, so keep your eyes peeled for more discounts as we get closer to the bank holiday weekend.

Here’s everything you need to know about Tesco’s Finest English sparkling wine.

“I am all for championing English sparkling wine and Tesco’s Finest [bottle] is great value, especially as it’s created at award-winning Balfour Estate in Kent by one of the loveliest winemakers, Fergus Elias,” says qualified wine expert, Libby Brodie.

The English sparkling wine is made from a blend of chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot noir grapes, which Brodie compares to its popular French counterpart. “The same grapes as champagne, it has whispers of shortbread and hazelnut alongside glorious English green apples and fun fizz,” she says in our guide to the best supermarket sparkling wine.
