With Merdeka Day fast approaching, Malaysians are starting to show their patriotic spirit by putting up the Jalur Gemilang in their houses and on their cars.
There are also many locals who are helping to take this year’s Merdeka Day celebrations to the next level through their gorgeous works of art.
The Ganesh Creation Facebook page recently showcased the Merdeka-themed kolam (traditional Indian decorative art drawn by using rice flour, colourful rice, or synthetic flour) they did for Hotel Maya in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Sharing step-by-step images of how the gorgeous kolam came to be, the end product is a vibrant picture of the inaugural Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, with the Kuala Lumpur city skyline and a Jalur Gemilang flag in the background.
Such beauty should last forever!
Mesmerised by just how gorgeous and intricate the kolam is, many took to the post to share their awe and hoped that the kolam could last as long as possible.
“Alamak, it’s so precious! I wish works of art like this can last a long time. Can kolams be glued on paper? It’s so gorgeous.”
“It’s such a pity to have to clean it up later on, because it’s so pretty.”
Ganesh Creation has also clarified in the comments that the kolam will only last, at most, for a month. This is, sadly, because it is made from coloured rice, which is a perishable item.
