Released in the summer of 2025, S Line quickly established itself as one of the most talked-about K-dramas of the year. With its disturbing yet fascinating premise – making intimate relationships visible – the South Korean series was even selected for Canneseries 2025, proof of its resonance far beyond Asia.

Adapted from a cult webtoon by kkomabi and conceived by director Ahn Joo-young, the K-drama S Line is based on an idea as simple as it is dizzying: what if our past relationships became visible to everyone?

From the outset, the series creates a disturbing, almost hypnotic atmosphere, where fantasy infiltrates everyday life to better question our darkest secrets.

A visual idea that changes everything

In the near future, mysterious red lines appear above individuals, connecting all the people with whom they have had sexual relations. It is impossible to hide them: the past is now on display for all to see.

This simple visual device acts as a brutal revelation. Fragile couples, destroyed reputations, truths impossible to ignore – society falters in the face of this forced transparency. By transforming the intimate into public information, S Line questions our relationship with the gaze of others and the element of secrecy that underpins all identity.

The Korean thriller that confirms the boldness of K-dramas

At the heart of the story, a detective, an enigmatic teacher and a teenager who can see these lines before anyone else try to understand the disturbing events triggered by the phenomenon. Very quickly, the investigation veers into murky territory where crime, desire and manipulation intertwine.

Both a tense thriller and a social critique, tinged with fantasy, the series once again illustrates the ability of K-dramas to push the boundaries of the genre. Its growing international popularity reminds us that sometimes a strong idea is enough to transform fiction into a real experience.
